catering

The catering service at CoG 2024 is provided by Rob de Matt.

Rob de Matt, founded on March 16, 2016, by Edoardo Todeschini, Francesco Purpura, and Tommaso Berta, is an association dedicated to social, cultural, artistic, and community promotion in Milan, specifically in the Municipality 9 district where it is based. The organization’s mission is to foster social inclusion and provide support to disadvantaged individuals through various initiatives and projects.

Rob de Matt operates a bistro in the Dergano neighborhood, which serves as a hub for their activities. The bistro not only offers a place for community gathering but also provides employment opportunities in the restaurant industry to people with marginalized backgrounds, such as those with physical or mental disabilities, individuals experiencing social or economic hardship, asylum seekers, and young people in training.

Over the years, Rob de Matt has organized numerous events and projects to promote social and cultural engagement. For example, the association has led initiatives like the “Knowow! – Saperi in movimento” project, which provided young people in the Dergano area with training from professionals in various creative fields. Another significant effort is the “Street View – 20158” project, a participatory photography exhibition featuring the work of local residents and a professional photographer, displayed in shop windows and public housing estates.

Rob de Matt also extends its support during times of crisis. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the association collaborated with various organizations to distribute essential goods and prepared meals for people in need. Furthermore, they have organized support missions for Ukrainian refugees, providing hot meals and essential supplies at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

The association emphasizes values of solidarity, respect, tolerance, anti-racism, and the appreciation of diversity in gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion. Rob de Matt also promotes a culture of sharing, recycling, and community collaboration, consistently working towards enhancing the well-being of individuals and the local community.

Rob De Matt is also partnering with Politecnico di Milano in the European project ORBIS, which explores new models of democracy leveraging AI-boosted technology. Through piloting experimentation, the project focuses on the inclusion of less skilled and marginalized segments of local civil society and groups of activists, including participants of multicultural origin, a high percentage of young and elderly residents, and the institutionalization of deliberative processes between civil society and local authorities.
